Special Educator needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: The special educator is under the responsibility of the AIME Program Head and works with the teacher and the Physical Therapist in order to plan and implement adapted activities. He has to train all the staff on using appropriate tools in order to improve the relational in the structure. Objectives of the mission of the volunteer - The volunteer in AIME must give tools and organise activities around it in order the children use it often and be sensitive to it. A training period of all staff is inevitable Responsibilities - Activities adapted for special children - Good relationship and communication with the AIME staff - Give improvement to special children using special tools Tasks Non-Formal Education - Identify learning needs and strategies for each child; - Prepare schedule of common weekly activities; - Conduct regular evaluation of the child's progress; - Implement modules for specific children based on the recommended psycho-educational assessment of the multidisciplinary team; - Identify and recommend children for vocational/skills training; - Maintain inventory of stocks used for built-in class. - Set up trainings for the staff regarding the educational tools (PECS, TEACCH) Formal Education - Assist the child in accomplishing take-home work - Conduct tutorials when necessary. Others - Attend meetings / training for staff as required. - Attend home level case conferences. - Submit required reports. Evaluation system The evaluation will be done by the coordinator program and the volunteer coordinator. First one will be observed after 1 month and after each 2 months. Art Therapist needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: The volunteer is in contact with his coordinator in order to make the schedule and to ask information about the program. He must report to the coordinator about the behavior of each children participating to the activities. Objectives of the mission of the volunteer The volunteer permit the children to discover another kind of expression and to take care of the children out of their home. Tasks Art - Teaches children in art, for example; painting, sketching, designing and sculpturing or may specialize in one areas of art, - Prepares lesson plans and establishes course goals, - Selects art supplies/materials for the courses, - Demonstrates method and procedure to the children, - Observes and evaluates children’s work to determine progress or to make improvement, - Plans and arranges art exhibits in coordination with the Center Coordinator, - Organizes and accompanies children on field trips to art galleries or museums, - Teaches children to clean and store materials / equipment after each session, - Ensures safety and sanitation in the workshop room before and after use, Sport and dance - Conducts group and individual recreation activities according to children’s needs, capabilities and interests; determine and implement necessary precautions in exercising responsibility for the care and safety of the children, - Confers with the social worker, psychologist and medical team members to assess recreational needs of children, - Prepares reports reflecting children’s behavior and progress for the social workers, psychologist and medical team members, - Assist in selection, maintenance, storage, evaluation and purchase of recreational supplies and equipment, Therapy - Observation of the kids during the activity - Take note on the behavior of the kids - Give feed back each 15 days to the psychologist team - Give suggestion to Sibuhi coordinator on activities adapted to the kids 4. RAC medical and Social Cordinator needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: The medical and Social Coordinator is in contact with all the positions in RAC : social workers, house-parents, and the nurse in order to refer well the children situation. He must report to the person in charge in VFI : Dominique Lemay (Program Head - RAC) The «Reception and Action Center» (RAC) is a temporary accommodation Center from administration of Manila City, for all the people rescued from the streets of Manila. Objectives of the mission of the volunteer - The volunteer is the person in charge of the medical and social work. He is a link between the beneficiaries, RAC and VIRLANIE and facilitate the communication between each other for a better condition of the persons. Responsibilities: - Reference the children cases - Communication and coordination between all the positions - Medical assistance and hygiene services Tasks: Program Management 1. Human resources management - Give orientation on the program to the medical new staff or volunteer - Coordinate and facilitate the daily feedback - Supervise the VIRLANIE nurse - Insure the internal communication between the different positions - Emotional debriefing of the team members 2. Data management - Collect and capitalize the information - Submit a monthly report about social and medical situation in RAC (quantity and type of medical acts, number of beneficiaries, problems encountered, data of activities, personal position and proposal …) 3. Finances - Coordinate with the VFI Accounting (for travel, lunch, medical expenses …) - Manage the cash and the follow up of the current budget 4. Reporting - monthly activity reports - Propose future actions to undertake Program Implementation a. Medical Service - Identify the beneficiaries (children and adults) who need medical services - Facilitate their transfer to the VFI clinic inside the RAC - In case of emergencies, facilitate the transfer of the beneficiary to the public hospital b. Social Service - Collaborate with the VFI street educators to facilitate, in some cases, the transfer of a beneficiary to one of the VFI Residential Homes -Report to the social worker the different cases Partnership - Represent daily the Foundation within the RAC structure and its officials - Ensure the well implementation of the program - Ensure the policies and activities are well implemented - Analyze the local context and the beneficiaries’ problematic to enable a better adaptation of the VFI action - Facilitate the collaboration between the VFI team and the RAC staff - Suggest structural changes to efficiently improve the quality of service and their better adaptation to the needs of the beneficiaries - Informally evaluate the work performed by the RAC staff Education: - Degree in Nursing, Social Work, Special Education or Equivalent Experience: BEATEP, BAFD. Competences - Organize planning and strategy action - Team management -Analyse and reporting spirit - Ability to manage a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team - Strong oral and written communication skills in English, should make effort to learn the Tagalog - Computer knowledge (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, database) - Be motivated by learning Tagalog 5. Virlanie Foundation Inc is one of the largest, private, non-sectarian child-caring institutions in Metro Manila, Philippines.

Virlanie is a non-government organization (NGO) caring for children in need of special protection: abandoned, abused, exploited, neglected, orphaned, poor. More than 100 Filipino staff and volunteers, supported by a network of donors and sponsors, helped and provided basic care to more than 1,200 street children in 2009.

Founded by French social worker, Dominique Lemay, Virlanie is a non-profit organization celebrating its 18th anniversary this year (2010). In the past 18 years, Virlanie has helped 12,000 children and has developed children to become young adults who are responsible and self-sufficient.
